An interesting thought…
January 15th, 2009This is probably be illegal, so practice at your own risk. But I was just wondering what would happen if every time a bunch of people acquired paper money (dollar dollar bills y’all), they cut off a small segment of the bill. While you’re not supposed to deface money (as its a symbolic attack against people’s faith in the govt), it’s interesting to take very literally the sort of seas of fees that banks and other transactions take out of your typical dollar.

When I first read it, I thought the suggestion was to cut a small strip off each note and then make a new “note” out of all the single strips lol Actually, I could see that working, for half the plan anyway. The “donor” note could be taped back together and passed off without too much of a problem, as taped money is fairly common. Getting someone to accept the “Frankenstein” note though would take a bit more effort

Nah, I think the point is to engage in civil disobedience. If the practice would become widespread enough, the monetary system would collapse because the bills would slowly but surely be degenerated - but only if enough people do it to make it happen on a large scale.
